3. What is the difference between broad spectrum and specific supplements?

Broad spectrum supplements should be as they describe a comprehensive supply of vitamins, trace elements and amino acids that when fed at the recommended amount meet the micronutrient requirements of the animal they are designed for. Broad spectrum supplements are sometimes described as multi-vitamin and mineral supplements and do the same job as a multi-vitamin tablet that we may take. EQUIVITE® have two pure multi-vitamin and mineral supplements in the range Original and PASTURE PLUS® and four products that combine the effect of multi-vitamin and mineral supplements with specific supplements Hoof, Joint, Calm and Breathe.

Specific supplements tend to be formulated for the nutritional support of specific problems such as bad feet and to maintain mobility in joints and only contain high levels of certain nutrients. If you usually feed a specific supplement and you also don’t feed the recommended about of compound you would normally have to buy two supplements. However, what makes EQUIVITE®’s new 2 in 1 range unique is that we have combined the action of both, saving you money and helping your horse at the same time, as they have been designed to treat the horse as a whole and not just the problem.
